Private Lessons

I’ve had the pleasure of learning Hebrew with Tamar weekly and have seen firsthand her thoughtful and encouraging approach to teaching. As someone who began learning Hebrew later in life, I especially appreciate her patience, clarity, and ability to make the material feel accessible and enjoyable. Tamar creates a supportive learning environment that builds confidence and keeps students engaged. My only regret is that I did not start learning with Tamar sooner!

Tamar worked with my child in preparation for their B’nai Mitzvah, and the experience was wonderful. She provided personalized instruction tailored to my child’s specific needs, building not only strong Hebrew reading skills but also the confidence needed to lead prayers and chant Torah. Tamar took the time to establish a meaningful connection, creating a supportive learning environment and providing thoughtful feedback along the way. She was also attentive to our synagogue’s expectations, helping the entire process feel organized and manageable for our family. Just as importantly, her lessons were engaging and enjoyable. My child genuinely looked forward to each session. We’re so grateful for her support.

Tamar has taught 3 of my children over the last 6 years. She has done an amazing job preparing them and she made preparation very fun and engaging. They all have enjoyed working with her and have learned so much.

It is my absolute pleasure to write an endorsement for Tamar. She came into our lives when we were in a very challenging situation regarding our son’s Bar Mitzvah studies, and she completely turned it around: we went from stressed and unhappy to joyous and completely fulfilled under her tutelage. Tamar is the kind of educator you wish for in every area of your child’s education: focused on the needs of the individual student, nurturing, optimistic, knowledgeable, incredibly organized, and just a breath of fresh air. Our son even asked to continue studying with her for another year post-Bar Mitzvah because he loved classes with her so much. No matter where you are in your studies, you would be incredibly fortunate to get to work with her. We only wish we had found her sooner! Our entire family recommends her wholeheartedly!

As a student who enjoys learning languages, I’ve found the study of Hebrew and its structure very interesting compared to other languages (in my case French and Spanish). Tamar has taught me for several years.  Each lesson has added to my knowledge of the language and the culture. She is always courteous, enthusiastic, and well prepared. When questions arise, there is no hesitation in getting the answers. I would certainly recommend her as a teacher for those who want to learn Hebrew.

Tamar is an excellent teacher – competent, caring, and invested in her students. She worked with three of my children. They all had different learning styles and goals. She was able to connect with each child and give them ownership of their learning. I am grateful she worked with my children.

It is difficult to fully express the impact that Morah Tamar has had on our son, Adam, this year. What she gave him went far beyond simply learning prayers or participating in class; She helped give him confidence, connection, and a voice he had not shown before.

Last year, Adam was hesitant and reserved during Hebrew and prayer activities. He often kept to himself and was uncomfortable participating out loud, especially when it came to singing or engaging in front of others. He even got so uncomfortable that he removed him self from the virtual class and silently cried. As parents, you always hope a teacher will see the potential in your child even when they may not yet see it in themselves. Morah Tamar did exactly that.

Through her patience, encouragement, warmth, and genuine care, she slowly helped Adam come out of his shell. She created an environment where he felt safe enough to try, comfortable enough to participate, and confident enough to sing and engage alongside his classmates. Watching that transformation as parents has been incredibly emotional and meaningful for us.

What makes this so special is that Adam was not pushed through pressure or expectation, but through kindness, positivity, and belief in him. Morah Tamar clearly understands that teaching children is not only about academics or memorization — it is about nurturing confidence, identity, and belonging. Adam now participates in prayers with pride and excitement in a way we truly did not expect to see so quickly. He practices on his own and then eagerly will perform them for us, something that was never done before.

There are teachers who simply teach lessons, and then there are teachers who leave a lasting mark on a child’s growth and self-confidence. Morah Tamar is unquestionably the latter. The patience, compassion, and dedication she shows her students are gifts that will stay with Adam long after this school year is over.

We will always be deeply grateful for the role she played in helping our son find confidence in himself and joy in participating. She has made an extraordinary difference in Adam’s life, and we feel incredibly fortunate that he had the opportunity to learn from her.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Tamar is able to break down the Hebrew alphabet so that students can recognize letters and put them together to begin reading. She is highly organized, tech-savvy and tracks student progress carefully. Tamar has a natural skill to work with students who have diverse learning styles. Hands down, the best Hebrew teacher I have had in my 30 plus years as a Religious School Principal!
